Houston Chapter

The Houston Chapter was launched in late 2010 with the help and guidance of Dr. Ahson Rabbani, Vice President at TCF and Danial Noorani, founder and CEO of TCF-USA. Earlier, a Houston resident Abdullah Jafari visited several TCF schools and spent two days with various TCF personnel including Chairman TCF, Mushtaq Chhapra, Dr. Ahson Rabbani and Manager-Donor Relations, Neelam Habib in Karachi, Pakistan.

This chapter comprises a diverse group of people from Houston. There are senior oil and gas executives, businessmen and women, attorneys, physicians and other professionals. Each member is a successful individual in his/her right. Together they make a very dynamic and dedicated team, committed to volunteering for the cause of education for the underprivileged.

The chapter’s goal is to build a total of nine primary and three secondary schools by 2017. Once this goal has been achieved, the Houston Chapter will assume responsibility of raising funds to operate all the schools funded by the Houston Community.

Fundraising Gala 2011

Houston Chapter launched the first ever fundraising gala on April 16, 2011. It was an elegant affair at the Westin Hotel. Dedicated to the renowned Pakistani poet, Faiz Ahmad Faiz – who devoted his life to champion the cause of the poor and the oppressed – the event coincided with hiscentenary and was not only sold out but guests had to be accommodated on the seats of chapter members’ seats.

The sons of Pakistani Ghazal maestro, Mehdi Hasan, performed the ghazals of Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Kamran’s golden voice and Imran’s magical fingers on the tabla enthralled the audience.

This event was a record breaking fundraiser amongst charities benefiting Pakistan. Enough funds were collected to build two primary TCF schools.

Events in 2012

The second Annual Gala was held on April 7, 2012.

The theme of the year is "Building Futures". The chapter also plans to host a literary evening in the fall of every year in which TCF supporters will be invited free of cost and given an update on TCF projects.

Houston Chapter will also hold a TCF Golf Tournament around the last week of October or first week of November this year.
